This week, pastor Don speaks from John 14 about how belief ought to change behaviour. He mentions the fact that for many, their understanding of who God is, is driven by fear and guilt. You MUST do these things, or you SHOULDN'T do other things rather than the motive for right living coming out of a sincere love and devotion for Jesus Christ. Jesus often reminds His followers (and us) that genuine love for Him will lead us to right behaviour. It is true love, not guilt or fear which will produce fruit that pleases God. We have been told so many times, and yet it seems the simplest of lessons is hardest for us to understand.
